Leona

Leona, aka Mama Spice or the whip-cracker of Ala Nar, is known for her effervescent energy and luscious technique. At 8 Leona joined her first troupe, the Slovenian Folkloric dancers. With her mother's ballroom and brother's disco dancing savvy as strong influences, she went on to cheer leading, night club dancing competitions and hip hop. In 2001 she was looking to incorporate dance back into her life and discovered the beautiful art of bellydance. While she continues to learn the different styles of Middle Eastern dance, raks sharqi remains her passion. Some of the wonderful teachers she has studied with are: Venus, Rahma, Nath Keo, JIllina, Tamalyn Dallal, Bozenka, Suhaila Sulimpour, Sharon Kihara, Rachel Brice, Ranya, and Roula to name a few of the amazing instructors that have made an impact in her life.

Leona teaches belly dance at the Killarney Community Centre, Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre and the YMCA. She is certified as a group fitness and pre and post natal fitness instructor. Recently she was a featured dancer on the Bellydance workout hosted by Omni Television.
